What are the civil engineer jobs specialization?

 Civil engineer job specialization

In civil engineering, the various jobs are there in the form of specialization they are:
  1.   Structural Engineer
  2.   Construction Engineer
  3.   Transportation engineering
  4.   Geotechnical engineering
  5.   Water Resources engineering
  6.   Environmental engineering

    Civil Engineer Job:

Civil engineering is not just a stable job but a rapidly expanding one as well the truth is as long as there are structures and facilities that need to be built or constructed there will always be a demand for civil engineers.

Civil engineering is an exciting profession because at the end of the day you can see the results of your work whether this is a completed bridge a high-rise building a subway station or a hydroelectric dam civil engineering graduates can rest assured that the demand for their expertise is constant and even growing, because of the steady increase in civil engineering jobs in the infrastructure and the construction industry in particulars.

  1. Structural Engineering

Structural engineering mainly focuses only on the structural aspect of a building or any man-made structures. Structural engineering is later on a course that is taken up by civil engineers. In the field of civil engineering, masters, and ph.D level course is offered. But definitely not find it as a 'first-degree of bachelors' course in university.

Structural engineering involves the design of structures that should be saved for the users are economical and accomplish the desired functions it includes steel structures buildings tunnel highways dams and bridges.

   2. Construction Engineering

Construction Engineering is a professional discipline that deals with the designing planning construction and management of infrastructures such as roads tunnels bridges airports railroads facilities buildings dams and utilities these technicians are unique such that they are a cross between civil engineers and construction managers.

Construction Engineering technologists learn the designing aspect much like civil engineers and construction site management functions much like the construction managers at the educational level construction managers are not as focused on design work as they are on construction procedures methods and people management their primary concern is to deliver a project on time within budget and of the desired quality.

Construction engineering involves planning and execution transportation of materials site development based on hydraulic Environmental, Structural and  Geotechnical Engineering.

3. Transportation Engineering

Transportation Engineering or transport engineering is the application of technology and scientific principles to the planning functional design operation and management of facilities for any mode of transportation in order to provide for the safe efficient rapid comfortable convenient economical and environmentally compatible movement of people and goods transport it is a sub-discipline of civil engineering.

Transportation engineering is concerned with moving people and goods efficiently safely and in a manner conducive to a vibrant community this involves specifying designing constructing and maintaining transportation infrastructure which includes streets canals highways rail systems airports ports and mass transit.

  4. Geotechnical Engineering

Geotechnical engineering is a branch of civil engineering concerned with the engineering behavior of Earth's materials, Geotechnical Engineering is important in civil engineering but also has applications in military mining petroleum and other engineering disciplines that are concerned with construction occurring on the surface or within the ground.

Geotechnical Engineering uses principles of soil mechanics and rock mechanics to investigate subsurface conditions and materials determine the relevant physical/mechanical and chemical properties of these materials evaluate the stability of natural slopes and man-made soil deposits assess risks posed by site conditions designers works in structure foundations and monitor site conditions earthwork and foundation construction.

A typical Geotechnical Engineering project begins with a review of project needs to define the required material properties then follow a site investigation of a soil rock fault distribution and the bedrock properties on and below an area of interest to determine their engineering properties.

Geotechnical Engineering deals with soil rock foundations of buildings and bridges highways sewers and underground water systems.

5. Water Resources Engineering

Water Resources engineering concerns with the management of the quantity and quality of water in the underground and above-ground water resources such as rivers lakes and streams.

 6. Environmental Engineering

Environmental Engineering is related to the science of waste management of all types purification of water cleaning of contaminated areas reduction of pollution and industrial ecology coastal engineering concerns specific demands posed by constructing at or near the coast as well as the development of the coast itself.
